primary schools

UpStage is proud to continue our annual primary schools tour across the country, visiting thousands of students.

Now in its sixth year, the UpStage Schools Workshop day is a half-day for the whole school, which introduces kids to singing, acting and dancing - the cornerstones of the performing arts.

we bring out six professionals in their field to teach students the FUNdamentals of the performing arts.

Details

The UpStage primary schools tour is a wonderful first exposure CAPA incursion, direct to your school. We take pride in bringing up exceptional teaching artists whose energy, enthusiasm, and effervescence will encourage every single student to take their stage and step into the spotlight. Built to capture every interest level and extend those that require it, as well as being neurodivergent and trauma informed, the UpStage schools workshop is a no-brainer in introducing the performing arts to your school, increasing appreciation of the arts, and boosting school morale.

UpStage is also fantastic at identification of high potential and gifted education students (HPGE) in the creative domain.

Unlike other incursions that require students to sit and watch a performance followed by a Q&A, UpStage gets kids up on their feet, singing, dancing, acting, and gives them permission to be loud, silly, playful, and joyful. Our teaching artists are professionals who are working in the industry and are incredibly inspiring for the students.

The team arrives at the school with all of the equipment needed, including speakers and microphones, and after a short introduction to the entire school, are ready to jump right into the first session. It's typical to break the student body up into three parts. (Typically, stages 1-3 are appropriate), and each rotation sees the groups try out singing, dancing, and acting. This is one incursion that your kids will never forget.

  • Half-Day Incursion (Morning or Afternoon slots)

  • 3 x 45 minute rotational sessions

  • Singing, Acting, Dance
